Work Process
Most of the timber I use I collect myself, the majority of which is green. I do however use such things as driftwood, which I also collect myself.
The green timber used is nearly all inland Australian hardwoods e.g. Mulga, Brigalow, Iron Bark, Hairy Oak, Bull Oak, Gidgee Beefwood and Coolibah to name a few.
Once the timber is cut down in the paddock it is transported back to where I can cut it into slabs or what ever I wish on my home made horizontal band saw.
From there it is either stripped out for drying or if being used for bowls it is roughly turned to shape while green and put aside to dry for about 6 months.
After this time it is suitable to finish and coat.
